Directors Note:
"Linux User have always been fair when it comes to reviewing our products. But this review describes the Linux setup on this particular workstation as 'poor'. I have to disagree - we allow our customers to specify partitioning, installation class and desktop type.
"We then install all updates to Red Hat Linux, address all configuration issues for the various peripherals and install and compile an optimised NVIDIA OpenGL driver for XFree86.
"We even go as far as to create a custom kernel for every computer we sell, from the latest official kernel sources available from ftp.kernel.org.
"We don't pretend that our computers are suitable for first time users in the same way an Apple iMac is. Our goal is not to create our own distribution either - we offer the latest Red Hat and Mandrake distributions. Our products are aimed squarely at IT professionals.
"I doubt any other computer company in the UK offers a better Linux installation on desktops, notebooks, workstations and servers as we do, or offers anywhere near the level of attention to detail. I'd be very interested in hearing from anyone who disagrees."
